100 years ago today…my Grandma Grace was one of the children mentioned in the article. She used to tell this story often. “Pete” Wheatcraft was really Jasper. The reporter got his information wrong. Both Jasper and his wife, Jessie Lee, survived the shooting and lived with bullets inside their bodies. No alcohol was found on the property. Jasper’s distillery was at a different location.
